Welcome to Columbus County, North Carolina!

Join us for the official kickoff of the Columbus County, NC Barn Quilt Trail (CCBQT) on Thursday, February 27, 2025, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Columbus County Arts Council, located at 822 South Madison Street, Whiteville, NC.

A Celebration of Art, Heritage, and Community

The Columbus County Barn Quilt Trail is a vibrant, collaborative vision that will transform our landscape into a colorful outdoor gallery — celebrating heritage, craftsmanship, and community pride. Each hand-painted quilt square will reflect the spirit of Columbus County, blending stories of the past with the creativity of today.

For Locals and Visitors Alike

Whether you call Columbus County home or you’re visiting from near or far, the CCBQT offers a unique way to explore our rural beauty, small towns, and local culture. Each stop along the trail will tell a story — of families, farms, artistry, and history — inviting you to wander, discover, and connect with the people and places that make our county special.

A True Community Quilt

At its heart, the CCBQT is a community quilt. Each painted square is a thread in the cultural fabric of Columbus County — representing history, pride, and the creativity of local artists working hand-in-hand with residents.

Calling All Artists, Schools, and Community Groups

Artists are the heart of this project, bringing color, composition, and storytelling to life. Traditional quilt patterns and personal narratives will become visual landmarks across our county, ensuring that each square resonates with meaning and beauty.

We encourage schools, churches, civic clubs, and historical societies to take part! With guidance from local artists, each group can design a quilt square that reflects its own story, values, and heritage. Through this collaboration, the CCBQT will grow richer, more personal, and more connected.

A Living Legacy

The Columbus County Barn Quilt Trail is more than a tourist attraction — it’s a grassroots celebration of creativity, connection, and community spirit. Together, artists, homeowners, businesses, and local organizations will create a legacy of color and pride that will inspire both residents and visitors for generations to come.

Celebrate with us — experience the art, meet the makers, and be part of the story that stitches Columbus County together.
